frame questions....
I have a '59 F250 cab and front clip...was a complete truck, but someone wanted to buy just the cab and front clip and a section of the frame,so I cut and scrapped the rest of the chassis and suspension....well the sale did not go through and I am left with this cab in my driveway.
SO my question is, can I use,and will it work, a frame from the '61-'63? I'm talking about the ones the used the '57-'60 beds? I have found a few short bed frames and beds for that era,but dont know if they will work. Thanks

When I first read this all I wanted to say was "why?" ! Then I figured that wasn't the help you were looking for. If you have the '61 frame available now, just take some guick measurments. It should not be hard to measure the cab already off the frame. The trucks shared the same front end up till '64 so they might be compatible but am not sure without measuring for myself. My hunch would say that the '61 body is wider than a '59 thus requiring a different frame so it might not be that easy.
So there's a reply with bunch of guesss and not really anything to go on but you can feel better that you got a response. I believe folks just don't know your answer and most here usually don't just respond to up their post count. So be patient and try posting in the other forum as suggested by 2loststeve.

the wheel base doesnt matter to me much. I prefer a longbed 3/4t 'cause I want to do a custom flatbed. My concern is the frame from a '61-'63 is not flat under the cab. I have even thought of using brand "X" 1t dually(crewcab) chassis mainly 'cause it is flat or even a Ford '73-'79 Supercab chassis. I can make body mounts and put them where I need.
Anyone know the WMS(wheel mount surface) to WMS of a '57-'60? Thanks

Lance65,
I looked into using my rustfree '60 F100 body on a '62 4X4 chassis awhile back. I found that there is very little in common between the two generations when looking at mounting points. The widths, lengths, and elevations are all different. It wouldn't be impossible to make it work. Some welding is all it would take.
I ended up swapping the 4X4 stuff to my '60 after finding the unique transfer case brackets. In the end it will look like a stock 4X4 only in shortbox version.
When you mention WMS, do you mean the overall width of from axle flange to axle flange or track width?
