My 1989 F250 frame is getting a little spongy! I've found a really good frame but it looks like it was a cab/chassis, has some frame doublers behind the cab but overall its pristine. WB looks to be the same as mine, the quick visual difference is that over the axle, the pickup frame has a lift that almost touches the under body. The cab/chassis is almost flat. The bed has supports that rest well fore/aft of this hump. Has anyone ever fitted a regular pickup bed to a cab/chassis frame?
Thanks for the info, this frame looked just as wide as mine but definitely worth taking a whole pile of measurements. Someone else mentioned that the frame top is higher so causes a pickup bed to sit above the normal line. My frame betwen cab and bed transition is pretty flat. This frame looks like an F350 as it doesn't have the forged spring brackets like the F-superduty had.
The C&C frames narrow 3" right behind the cab. C&C frames are 34" wide outside to outside, and pickup frames are 37".
Do you know what year they started doing that?
I'm going to measure the wheelbase, the cab tag says 177 but a piece of string matches back of cab to axle centerline on a nearby 133" chassis.
This one looked pretty normal for that span two feet before and after the rear of the cab but it does have doublers above and below riveted to the frame right at the back of the cab.
Got some measurements of the cab chassis frame. My truck has a 133 wheel base and this at first glance seems to be a 135? Okay, could be 2 inches longer. Hopefully if I can stop plowing for a week I'll get some measurements on my truck, I wouldn't mind having
some space behind the cab and maybe a good time to add in an underbed econo dump lift
I do see where the sides neck in a little bit to make the frame a bit narrower, if its narrow enough, I'd happily put tabs on the outside of my frame to lash the bed down to.
I don't have any issues with the larger space between the cab and bed and well, I wonder if I could put in a hoist under the bed. My gooseneck hitch is all mounted on the frame but there still might be enough room for a hoist and end up with a sorta dump bed.
