have a 78 F150 with 351C-rebuilt/ standard cab 8 ft bed 9 inch pumkin
the C6 shift problem from 1st to second severe hesitation and shift problem from second to high . since I am rebuilding whole truck and C6 maybe original or second one . money for new one maybe better spent instead of repair . Was wondering if Ford put in tranny's with an overdrive that would fit as a bolt up / what years and if it would be worth the hunt also how bullet proof are they compared to C6-- would be nice to have a overdrive for mpg - keeping trk till they take my drivers lic away at age 100 and pry keys out of hand -- I'm 52 lol
thanks Kelly
delay from first to second is usually the intermediate band out of adjustment. Try readjusting before doing anything else and see if it fixes your issues.
Back lock nut off, tighten the adjusting screw to 10ft/lbs (120in/lbs) then back off 1-1/2 turns, tighten lock nut.
I actually usually only back off 1-1/4 on my race trans but I also am a lot harder on them and tear into them yearly.
