Have a question on what year window motors are swapable buddy has a 86 f150 and the drivers side window motor is shot I can get one from a 95 f150 would this work or not if not what years would work in a 86?
The master parts catalog only goes to '89, so I can't go further forward than that. But, I've attached the pertinent page from that and see that 1981 - 89 F100 thru 350 and U150 all use the same motor.
Thanks for posting the info that sucks it only gos to 89 anyone have a updated version for a 95 I'd hate to get the motor and have it not work
Remember, you are in the 80 - 86 forum. It was a bonus to get out to 89. You could take the part number to the forum that includes 95's and see if they know whether it fits their trucks. But, that would require work on your part.

Go to one of the part retailer's websites and see if the same product number is listed for both trucks. I believe it's auto zone that also has some good measurements and diagrams as well. Even if the wiring is different that could be dealt with if the mounting geometry is the same.

Nice suggestion...Rock Auto shows the same part number for the 86 and 95. Keep in mind they are different for LH and RH
Yep Kevin, I ended up looking because I'm that bored waiting on a woman haha.
OP- from what I see the electric motor part numbers are the same. The regulators are different. If you're sure it's the motors that are bad, then you should be able to swap motors onto the regulator you have and work with that. Nice thing about the toothed regulators is no ni-tungsten wire coil to deal with.
If the factory motors are riveted to the regulator drill the heads off and then get machine bolts to hold it on. I did this on very, very, similar looking motors and I believe the size I needed was an M8, 10mm head bolt.

Man I love this site always helps me out on my fords so to make sure I get this right the motors are the same 86 and 95 the thing that I got to look at is the regulator they may be the same or different if different I just swap them and use bolts to hold it on if it is riveted?
Somebody rep Gary for me, I need to spread the love.
And I thought no one noticed.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to un-subscribe to this thread. I cannot read that. No, actually, I could if I really wanted to but it isn't worth it to me. I'll help people that help me help them. Ciao.
Ditto on the nuts and bolts.
I took my left side off and took the cover off the gear case, cleaned out the old grease and plastic from the broken actuator.
Put 3 # 10/32 nuts beside the metal shaft. The cover won't let them fall out. Packed with grease, been working fine since 97.
Just did the right side last week.
This works fine, or seems to, if the gear isn't stripped.
If so, I noticed someplace(Rock Auto Parts) has just the gear assembly.
Might save you some coins.
Hope this Redneck Engineering works.
Window motors out of crown vics , grand marquis and town cars will work also. (79-93 that I know of for sure. The housing where the gear is has a 1965 engineering number on it. There are left and right housings. Most of the problems are with the nylon rollers, which are avail. in the "Help" section of most parts stores. There are 3 dimples in the door shell, I use a spot weld cutter or a 1/2" bit to drill these out to make it easier to get a socket to the bolts. (5/16") Have replaced motors in our 86,87, 89 trucks, 83,89, 93CV and GM and all the same.
