stacks

I am donzi dudes son and I am looking for my first truck I really want a 7.3l and I found one I liked and it has stacks I know a lot of people like them but I don't really like them and I was wondering how much it would cost to get them removed and bed fixed?

Doing it your self or having someone do it? May not need to fix the bed if you want to just put a toolbox over top of it....Just a thought.

I imagine someone would charge quite a bit (especially a body shop) to repair the bed.

The stacks would be easy, they Y off somewhere, just take off the stacks and the Y and run your exhaust pipe from where the Y was out to where you want it to come out of the truck.

At the worst you could go with a turbo back complete exhaust for $350 and just put a plate under the bed to close off the holes. I don't blame ya I don't like the looks of stacks either.

You could straight pipe it a guess. You would loose your spare, turbo back though gets rid of the smaller down pipe. You could run a turbo back without a muffler, that's what's on mine and it is plenty LOUD. That mileage should be anything really to worry about, look everything over real well and do regular maintaence and you should be good to go. I has 241,000 on mine and runs great, and is chipped.

New toolbox from atwoods cost me $240 a couple years ago and thats a full depth one, and level with the top of the bed.
Check for blowby (flip over oil cap while the engine is running) There is a list of stuff somewhere here on FTE on how to go over a truck before you buy it.

Also you can straight pipe it.

Aslo remember - the price of the truck is diminished because of a great big hole in the bed and it's missing an exhaust system. Don't let them overcharge you because they're under the impression the truck is "special". If the truck has stacks, It's likely the downpipe is not stock.
