So I noticed today when I came up to a stoplight I was slowing down with my foot on the brake and my truck revved kinda high for a second or two, as I was slowing down.
And when I was heading back to my house from going into town, I have to go up a long incline on the highway, and it had trouble holding steady at 65 mph, and when it starts losing speed, going down towards 60, it kicks pretty hard when it downshifts. When I give it some gas to get back up to 65, it kicks pretty hard again. Does the same thing slowing down to about 40 then hitting the gas. This has been going on for some time now, the coming up to a stoplight thing just happened for the first time today.
The truck also has a shudder going down the road, driving up an incline, etc.
I'm thinking these problems are being caused by the tranny? I have had the truck since it had 164,000 miles and it has about 185,000 on it now. Have never changed the tranny fluid since I have had it. Makes me wonder if it has EVER been changed since it rolled off the assembly line....
Maybe the tranny is going out? Any help is appreciated. Not to knowledgeable on the mechanics of these trucks.
Couldn't tell ya on the first 2 things you mention, but I can certainly take a look today or tomorrow and get back to you on that. Both rear u-joints replaced a couple weeks ago.
Ya check the mounts. My 95 did the same thing or pretty close to it. Checked the trans mount..... Snapped in half not even really connected lol. Started doing it again here recently an found out my rear u joints both went bad. So definitely something to check into.
