Tranny problems
hey fellas, i have a 2000 f250 with the 5.4 engine. I couldn't find it in the manual, but thru another website it appears I have the 4R100 tranny...? its auto 4x2. 
Anyway, since I've owned it (8 months) it has always shifted a lilttle rough, not too bad but noticable. Well the other day i got on ol hwy 4 and accidently had it in 2nd up till about 60 mph when i realized
Took the next exit and when i slowed down i could hear it whinning. Pulled over checked the fluid, level and color and odor good but never stopped whinning....drove it thru town, bout 5 miles to a friends house and lost it. I mean i was just coasting, no gears nothing. Pulled over, let him sit for about 30 mins. Started it again and drove it for another block before it quit again.
So obviously something wrong with ol' henrys' tranny
but is it toast or can i try any easy fixes? was thinking of changing the fluid and filter and seeing what happens.
Any suggestions?
