Unhappy Tranny problems!!!! HELP

HI all,
Well heres the scoop,
Last night after work I hopped in me truck to go home and drove through town with no problems. After a quick stop at the store (I shut off the truck), When I continued my drive only to find that as soon as my auto tranny went to shift into third the truck bogged down somthing awful. The motor was still trying to "pull" the truck, but it seemed like I was tring to pull a 747 with no wheels! Because of this "drag" in the tranny the truck slowed enough that it needed to shift back into second. As soon as it hit second it was like the problem went away and started accelerating again, but when it went to hit third the same thing happened...
I am by no means a transmision guy, but to my understanding most of the actions are "hydrualic". With that in mind the drag almost feeles like 2nd and 3rd are both opening/closing at the same time???
Does anyone think that it could be a computer problem, or a mechanical problem?
My 01 4x4 cc has 89000 miles and I just changed the tranny fluid at 65000.
I dont pull anything and the truck is stock.
Any help would be great!!!!
Well I got ya, anyone have there upper and lower ball joints replaced on the 4x4? The dealership wants $1100 to do it including alignment... Seems really HIGH!
THANKS, SCOTT

I just had similar symptoms with my '97 F250. My issue turned out to be a bad tranny solenoid. My local transmission hero is gonna replace both (they come in a kit) and change the fluid & filter for $350. I just assumed I was in for a $1000 repair bill because of the way the truck was handling. So, I'm thrilled to say the least!

Good luck!
