Ok got a.92 f250 with a 5.8 5speed Trans is dead completely what are my options for another stick sift Trans dont want to spend over 500 can what years can I pull a Trans from also can I use a 5.0 Trans not really sure about these things
what do you mean by dead completely? no forward gears at all? you have a zf5 tranny. im pretty sure any other manual trans f250 with a 5.0 or 5.8 would work. i dont think the 460 or the diesels have the same bolt pattern
Well found out i got a zf trans finding them foe around 600 used is this a good price alsowhat is the easyiest way to get that stupid clutch line off the slave.
Unless you are pressed for time, you can get a rebuild kit for around $360. Me and my buddy rebuilt my trany about a year and a half ago. Search ZF S542 rebuild. These transmissions were an option for all Ford trucks, Vans and Broncos from '87 to '95. Check this link ZF542 Ford Truck 5 Speed Manual Transmissions Rebuild Kits - Drivetrain.com
You can probably find a used one also. Looking around, a remanufactured one runs about $650 to $1200 depending on vender and core charge.
For the Hyd line for the clutch, use a small flat head screw driver to hold the inner plastic ring in place and pull out on the outer metal part. At first it a pain but, once you get it off you will see it's easy. A Chiltons or Hayns is good. Of course it will tell you you need a special tool, but you don't.
Hope this helps.

im assuming the zf has an internal slave? my m5od has an internal slave, and since i knew i would be replacing it when i dropped the tranny, i just beat the crap out of the slave with a hammer and a screwdriver until the hyd hose came out. it was a crude and unprofessional way to do it, but if you dont mess up the hose then it works out fine. a little frustration usually gets added into the mix beforehand.
Yea dont realy want to start swinging away i just have always had a hard time with tat plastic ring. imma be replacing tthe trans because it has no forward or reverse gears put in gear and feels like neutral with some grinding. clutch isnt slipping but imma replace the clutch trans and throw oit bearing. might even have to replace that 4x4 shifter if i cant free it up ang get it to drop in 4w low. what kinda fluid do these trans take
