you have 295K miles on the ball joints.. or is that mileage on truck?? confused.
If you look back through the thread you'll see that he put them on at 214,349. 80K+ so far. FWIW, XRF are the only ball joints I install on these trucks at my shop, I have had to replace one so far but it was not XRFs fault, The U-joint in the front axle exploded and pushed the upper ball joint out a bit and ruined the underside of it.
My XRFs were great and at 70K+ miles and counting when the truck was totaled. I know it went to auction and was sold as a salvage so they're still going strong for someone else now.
Mine don’t have that many miles on them yet but I replaced them about a year ago. I Had replaced everything steering wise including steering box and even though my ball joints tested correctly by standard methods I found they were dry and causing issues. My truck has driven like new since. Love them so far.
Im usually over in the OBS Section, came across this thread in a Google search..
Rebuilding my D50, looking into ball joints and steering linkage. I haven’t had a problem with OEM in the past, or Moog, on a couple of super duties I used to own. But I haven’t read much good on Moog the past few years. Looks like a big price difference on XRF vs Dana. I know one of my joints I had replaced several years ago, aftermarket at a shop, and probably the knurled / spline type, so I’m not even sure if I can use a Dana anymore on that side.
Just Dana ball joints in my hands are almost $600!
A whole kit of XRF, ball joints and all steering linkage, including sleeves is $570 from tire club. That’s in my hands, shipping, tax, exchange etc etc. In Canada. Not bad for everything in one box.
Looks like the XRF ball joints from everything I’ve read are holding up well, how about the steering parts? Everyone still happy with XRF overall?
One XRF ball joint failure out of all the ones I’ve installed. It had about 30k miles on it and was replaced under warranty. No tie rod end failures yet. I will continue using these for now!
