At the risk of starting an unnecessary debate about various brake pads. I have a simple question/curiosity. I have a 97 F-150 4x4. I learned the hard way a long time ago that aftermarket front brake pads (Advance, Autozone, Carquest, etc.) just don't work (well at least in my case). I was warping rotors about every 3 months. Then I got wise and went back to Motorcraft pads. My question is who actually makes the pads for Motorcraft?
I have been using the Auto Zone pads for 20 years. Never had a problem yet. How do you warp a rotor ?
With a big hammer and a torch. LOL. Sorry--couldn't resist.
No seriously, by driving it like it like a race car primarily and getting the rotors too hot with pads that are too hard. It's a very common thing around here with people riding their brakes going down the mountains, etc. But before anybody else chimes in on that subject, I have always hand tightened my lug nuts with a torque wrench, so the theory of too much flex on a rotor from overtightened lug nuts is not that likely with my truck. My truck has rear drum brakes. The braking burden on the front discs with those trucks out of the factory was huge to begin with. I'm glad you have had good success with Auto Zone, etc. pads. I have too with other vehicles--but not that truck.
