Fleet Charge or Napa Heavy Duty seems to be a popular choice for coolant (same coolant as far as I can tell just a different color). No need to add the SCA additive. Don't get the 50/50 stuff. Distilled water to flush and add to the coolant.
Red Line (your choice of oils is fine) 75-140 synthetic with the friction modifier to the limited slip for the pumpkins. IMHO no need to run a different weight oil in the front. Check your differential vents while your there to see if they are clogged. Drive 50 miles or so and recheck the levels.
A good synthetic ATF for the transfer case. Red Line D4 is what I run. You can use any extra for the power steering.
Requires synthetic ATF. Personal experience, I'm not that impressed with Mobil 1. I've heard folks get better action with Amsoil TorqueDrive or Castrol TranSynd; similar reports on the Saturn forum (their manuals take ATF as well). Some opt to overfill by 1/2 qt or so by filling from the shifter.
Changing all my fluids in the 97 hand shaker. Front, rear, coolant, tranny, transfer case. What's your thoughts on fluids I should be using. Thanks
Personally I'd run Royal Purple Sychromesh in your tranny, stuff really helped out, quieted it down and my 3rd gear synchro is on its way out, but it improved being able to grab it a little bit better without a grind. Really good stuff.
For the Diffs I'd use Mobil 1 Full synthetic diff lube running the correct weight and friction midifier in the rear. I went down a bit in weight up front but there really is no need to.
Transfer case I run Amsoil Full synthetic same for the power steering box.
Just some suggestions but putting the extra cost in fluids in your truck instead of the shops special standard stuff is worth it in the long run.
I just did exactly the same fluid flush you are planning on both my truck and figure they are ready to rock and roll for another 100k
I run Schaeffers full synthetics in almost everything in my truck...
Whenever its coming time to change something I just make an order with enough to do all my fluids... gets me free shipping! and the best price compared to local retailers that stock it.
OOPS! If you live in a warmer climate Red Line MTL would be a good choice for your "hand shaker". Colder climate I'd stick with ATF. Can't go wrong with Shaeffers.
