Great point sir! I had totally forgotten about the bumpers, I will always use metal bumpers, can't stand that newer trucks are mostly plastic now. I like to use my bumpers from time to time so I keep as much protection front and back as I can!
just keep in mind since our trucks are more rigid they will give less in an impact so more inertia will be transferred from one vehicle to you and you will get some bruises possibly, newer trucks even tho mostly plastic and what not are designed to be safer then cars were say in the 90's plus newer trucks are designed to crumple a lot to take the energy and transfer it into ways that protect the occupants better...so thats another trade off if you will
what kinda motor do you have now? a 7.3 is only really worth it if you have like a 302, otherwise you could build up what you have to be just as good without th cost and headache, moer truck details please!!!
Even if he has a 302, make that into a 347 stroker along with some more upgrades and it becomes far better than the 351w at stock form, and built right it surpasses the 7.3L powerstroke in stock form, while still being a light weight motor.

Very true. Case in point: my brother's '06 F-150 had it's frame buckle when he hit an early 90's Civic that pulled out in front of him. Was declared totalled only a month after he got it! As for our trucks; I'm dying to install a rollcage once I get it built up more and plan on getting 4-point belts.

That's a huge can of worms you just opened there. Hahaha. To hopefully keep this from exploding, let me say that doing a diesel swap is not as easy as it sounds. You should just buy a diesel if you want a diesel. What GNR22 said is true though; a 347 is a very potent motor, somewhat expensive, but torquey. I'd say either rebuild yours as a 347 or just swap to a 351, which are good motors and can be easily upgraded.

a well built 351 is better and cheaper than a 347, plus you can go up to 393 for the same price and get alot more hp and torque, plus he already has a 351 so its even better, i got a 7.3 idi and powerstroke and they are great but i like my 351 better cause its got more giddy up and go, well once the powerstrokes turbo kicks in its a rocket, but back to the topic at hand, wolverine my friend, just build up your 351 and you will have more than you will ever need and be glad you did, trust me
I was just making the point that, for what it's worth, it would be cheaper to build a 347 stroker than to have to purchase a powerstroke and transmission with all the computer to run it.
I hadn't even read what he had for a motor, but the point is still valid.
But with a 351w, there's so much opportunity for it to be a high power motor. That's the nice thing about the windsor motors, there is a ton of aftermarket support for them. You could probably build a 393, even a 408 stroker for the price of the powerstroke motor. That would probably be more powerful anyway.
The next point I have to make, is that, depending on which automatic transmission you have, you may want to see about getting a shift kit also.
