I know that the 6.0 was made to run but i find myself in a predicament. It is currently my daily driver. ( my jeep is out of service, the pinion gear got hungry and ate the spiders). back to the point, we have two facilities that are a mile apart at work and i have to travel frequently between the two. First questoin is do i let her idle or shut her down each time? I always bring it up to op temp before i shut down after the first start but most of that is idling also. I just replaced all the injectors, (2 were bad but had the money to do all 8) then replaced the tranny because i was not reading this forum near enough. Lessons learned. So do i let her run or kill it between stops. The stops range anywhere from 10 minutes to hours so any input would be greatly appreciated.
After the tranny and injectors i am short on funds to replace the rear end in the jeep at the moment so this is what i have to do.

Shut it down. batteries are cheaper than injectors.
I usually have the 10 minute rule but in your case just install a high idle switch for the shorter stops. If you gonna be gone for an hour might as well shut it off. I do understand where your coming from though, I hate when I have to turn my truck on and off a bunch of times in the same day. People say its only the batteries you're wearing down, but I can't help thinking its bad for other stuff too.
Without the high idle mod I've read that the engine could or will wet stack which means fuel that does not burn due to the low combustion temperature of idling will leak into the oil and pollute it.
if this week goes as planned this weekend i will be doing the high idle mod and the blue spring upgrade. hopefully i can handle getting that done anyways. if not i can always call my good friend (ASE certified 6.0 Tech) to see if he can get me out of a pinch.
