Hmmm, sounds like more of that.....

I just changed my oil, added exactly 13 quarts, started it and let it run for 2 minutes, shut it off and let it sit overnight. Checked it the next morning and it was 1/2 a quart low. All of my previous oil changes usually show just a little over full, not this time.
BTW - I change the oil every 8046.72 km.
Tux, I dumped my factor oil at 500 miles.

Ya I was gonna do that too but 8046.72 km is just too hard to remember so I run 'er up to 10,000

Do you use synthetic and still change every 5,000 miles?

You must have been working your truck hard for it to need an extra 1/2 quart. Good for you! By Friday I am usually a few pints low myself.

Darren,
500 miles, 5000, 10000, 15000 get Rotella T, 20k and up gets T6. I've done that with all 3 diesels. The DX40 and ATV's all get T6. The wifes Pathfinder gets whatever they serve at Jiffy Lube.

Tux,
Machining cast iron is nasty stuff, you don't get nice clean chips like you can from machining steel. Getting the particulate iron out of that newly machined engine is the reason I like to change the oil sooner rather than later. My oil drain plug on the 6.4 was covered with iron particles at 500 and 5000 miles. I wish the 6.7 had a magnet in the drain plug.

If I am currently using Rotella T6 can I use Rotella T next time? What is the current thought on going from a synthetic to semi or back to regular?

I know the thought was that once you switch that you cannot go back, but I thought that had changed.
