That was my thought exactly. Let it sit overnight then check. Even tho it should be hot, this way no false readings occur from residual oil in the tube.

I was able to fill the 3 gallon jugs but had nothing for the remaining quart. At least I know that I was not making oil and as best I can tell, making oil has not been a subject of concern here at FTE with the 6.7.

I know what you mean about the effort required to check the oil. I'm 6' and it's pretty much all I have to reach the stick. When my back hurts I get pretty angry with the dipstick........
I agree, I thought making oil has not been a concern on the 6.7 as compared to previous engines. Guys that have done an oil analysis have shown very little even after 7000 miles.

I'm 5' 8" and I have to stand on the bumper.
The key is, don't slip off; which I've done.
Thankfully in my own garage instead of in public.

Yes, best to check it after a long soak.

The hardest part of an oil change on the 6.7 is checking the level. Just have a big pan that is open, not the ones that funnel into a hole.

thats all i ever use. but im thinking about the Fumuto valve, and running a tube directly into the oil container for taking to the disposal site. but as typing this i realized i still need the other device cause the filter is underneath like most filters. one thing i miss about the 6.4 was the oil filter. man that was nice.

Man all you guys complaining probably have the fancy new cable type dipsticks. Try it with the twisted mess shown below that came on the job 1's. IF you could get the dipstick out of the tube at all, it is usually so seized in there you can't remove it.

Only way to get a reading on my truck is to let it sit over night. But now that I have had it for a while I know I do not need to check it very often. I measure in the correct amount of oil when I change it my truck doesn't make or use hardly any oil. I might check it once or twice between oil changes now (if that). But I change my oil every 6,213.712 miles

You got it, bad memory so oil at 10,000 kM and fuel filters every 20,000 kM What could be easier?

Thanks

You will notice I said I slipped off once...that was from the job 1 dipstick.
That seal expands in the tube after a week and it takes effort to remove.

It was much easier to use tge bumper as a step on the 6.4 because the grille was attached to the hood. Its inadequate as a step on the 6.7 imo
