Anyone else destroying motor mounts?

I am about to purchase my 4th set in 16-18 Months, Is anyone else having this short of a life span from them?

after the second set i also did the trans mount thinking it was part at fault but that didn't slow the destruction.

I know i need a better solution and am looking into fabbing a polly set since i have not seen any for sale. I am very hesitant to "chain" the motor in place.

Anyone have any input on my problem.

Engine is pretty much stock too, no big power upgrade.

Thanks
Joe

just a suggestion when putting them in, loosen the trans mount slightly, leave the engine mounts very slightly loose and start the engine let it idle (your not wanting the engine to actually move) even slight rev in neutral. This will let all of them settle into a relaxed state incase there is a bind on any of them. THEN tighten them all down.

Other then being in a bind, there is no reason for going through even cheapie mounts that fast. Assuming your not pulling WAY to heavy of a load with the truck

I have even went as far as greasing the perches prior

i have installed like u mention drove it a week and reset them as well.

Ive even pulled the engine and cleaned the mounting ears on the block and the perches in the truck in hopes of a solution.

Seems i get about 5-6 months (this set is 7) and i need a new set, they separate from the plates. (this will be the first "new" set aside from the original replacements i have paid for as they are outside the 6mo warranty)

Truck doesn't tow, rarely has a load over 3-400lb in the bed and most of the time is under ~200lbs load.

i know i can make a set that i WON'T break but its time i honestly don't have

Hmmmm...

I had these issue with my 94 F150 too.

It broke tran crossmember End weld/bolts steel plate on it so it hold much better.

But still break engine mounts for some reason. I notice if put in 1 gear and hit gas pedal lighty there were like 1 sec stumble next thing you know engine's fan are already hit fan shroud and had extremely bucking/jerky.

I suspect it due rear axle which is 3.08 it put strain on mounts.

I been debate to add chains on 300 direct to frame to try stop break mount and jerky/bucking in 1 gear.

The first set (originals) i replaced i noted the cracked crossmember where the trans mount bolted to it. so i blasted it and mig'd ground the top (mount mounting face) back to flat and added a 1/4" thick plate to the entire underside of the cross member.

I have no fan shroud, as i have a electric fan. it was just a flat piece across the top of the rad anyways.

Maybe its just a beast and wants to claw its way from under my hood lol

I chained down a 240 in my old 74 3 speed cuz I was too cheap/lazy to replace the mount. It seemed to do fine for many years. I believe I have read somewhere you can drill through the mounts and add a large bolt/nut combo and lock them in place. You still get the vibration dampening form the rubber but they will stay together. You could try it with some of the broken ones.

Poly options...

It seems you do have a serious binding/alignment issue. I am extremely hard on my trucks as in I don't mind a high rev whole shot every now and then and do not have these issues.
