Troubleshooting door ajar switch

Hi guys,

It seems lately that when I wash my truck, I get a door open light on the dash that goes off in a day or two regardless of anything else I do.

I am sure that one of my switches is getting wet and eventually drying out. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips, schematics, etc. that could save me from having to pull all the door panels to check each individual switch?

Also I am assuming that these switches would be closed when the door is closed and open when the door is opened. I'm hoping that there is a connector somewhere that I can unplug and take some resistance readings to find out who my culprit is.

I guarantee you that if I just start randomly pulling door panels I won't find it until the last one. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Yup , I haven't had a problem with 'em yet but looks like a a few folks have. Looks like $20 will get ya a new switch, 30min to change it out, but I'm with the OP about how to figure which one to change? (IF spraying don't fix it)

Wash half the truck - see if it does it again. then switch. If that doesn't work, then heads for driver's side and tails for passenger's

I just changed my door latch because it was locking me out. Switch has been defective since november I was surprised that the door switch is attached to the door latch by a quarter turn. It took me almost 2 hours to change start to finish

In my case the left door did not operate the dome light and the right door did. It is not often you can troubleshoot a newer truck without hundreds of dollars for test equipment.

Ok.
I have to ask this. It sort of goes with finding the bad switch.
Guy has a F-250 Diesel. And he also has a pile of ford keys.
Why is it that every time he looks for the key it is always
the last key he uses ?

Answer below.

Because he stops looking when he finds the one that opens the door.

Also if you don't like the mess that WD-40 makes you may want to look for this stuff
it tense to be a bit more $ ACF-50 anti corrosion. One of it's intended uses is for electrical. You should be able to pick it up at most aircraft supply shops or pilot shops.
