I am surprised this hasn't shown up on this board yet. I am not a fan of the test they did, but it is what it is. (Really this writer does not have a clue what a heavy duty truck is about).
Anyways, I went from a Chevy 6.0 gas engine to a Ford 6.0 PS to a 2008 Duramax, which I am in now. I totally think Chevy has the best truck from 2008 to 2010. I am surprised in this shootout how bad Dodge did, even with thier HO engine. Ford did well.
Bump. What no comment? I was thinking a good discussion would come of this. Cleary the Ford performed very well. I posted because I am kind of, sort of in the market for a newer pickup, and glad I went with the 2008 Chevy over the 2011 (pre HO) Dodge. But I also considered a Ford 6.7.
The article said the Chevy interior was very bland. I agree. The article also pointed out that the Ford braking distance was longer than the rest, but also it is a bit heavier than the rest. GM loves to bring up that point when doing comparisons.
The last line of the article also sums it up:
Given each brand’s historically loyal tribes, most buyers will make up their minds regardless of how things play out on paper. And the segment’s fierce competitiveness won’t let one player get too far ahead for too long.

There is no 'bad HD pickup' out there.
I agree, we like our over-engineered heavy fords. Most of us know that there are "****** in the armor" with our super duty trucks but we don't really care.
Also, most of us don't get much satisfaction out of bad mouthing the other brands. They're fine but we prefer our blue ovals.
Now, the guy that says "I'll never buy a truck that makes me spend extra money on DEF fluid" has bigger problems than vehicle preferences.....see what I did here OP? Might get some fire in the thread now........
Granted they were '11 models but there's not much difference between the '11 and '12 trucks.
Ah, yes. I haven't seen this one, thanks for the link. I will read it, but the two things I don't like so far is they are duallies and the ram has 4.10 gears.
I totally agree, they all have thier advantages. One thing not mentioned in most of these is the front axle, with the Chevy being ifs, making it not as good for farm work. Mine is a pavement princess so that doesn't factor much for me. And I only tow 10k, but through mountains up to 7,500 feet in elevation, so necessary to have a diesel and every diesel from 2008 up can tow that easily. (Yes the v10 can as well, don't want that argument here. Lol)
I do like the dash that Ford has put in these trucks, makes Chevy look like it's 1995. Dodge is okay to, but not as nice.
Okay just read that shootout, pretty much what I thought. Dodge has a crappy tranny, Ford needs some time to dial in thier powertrain and tranny, Chevy needs to update thier interior.
One weird thing, they noted Chevy coolant stayed at 210. They need to hook a computer up, because mine says 210 on the gauge , but the range is from 185 to 210 when hookup up to a monitor. That is how they are, I don't know why, but whatever.
I always love these tests - especially the drag races.
how about this, overload them and beat the hell out of them for 100K miles - then see which one is still going....
been there, done that -
see sig.

How was your 05 6.0? Mine was fine until the head gasket started going. Several dealers wouldn't fix under warranty, so I fixed then traded in later, was fun while programmed and such. But yes, they need to do more than spend few days with it. And drag racing duallies is dumb.
