Thanks, Bill! And thanks for helping here, I don't have anything besides Google to find that E5TF-EA ID number (at least not that I saw in the parts book).

You need a Master Cross Reference Catalog to cross reference ID numbers to Ford part numbers.

I have these little charmers from 1948 thru 2000. Waltz around to the dealers in your area, you might luck out. At one time the dealer in Littleton had all sorts of stuff.

Uh, I edited my rep post...added a tad of info.

I rep'd Bill for that apt, not aft, description of Chris. And to think, he's never met him and has him pegged! What an observant individual.

Are any of these likely candidates?

ford Master Cross Reference | eBay

I still want to get an OSI manual from there "one of these days when I can afford such stuff."

I am trying to learn something from all this, and correct me if I am wrong, but has it been confirmed ALL TRUCKS WITH 460 ENGINES had the electric fuel pumps originally? At least all in 85-86.

The original poster claimed his truck always had dual tanks and such, which could be true, I believe someone got rid of the electric system and swapped in a engine or a mechanical fuel pump on his engine, and swapped in regular sending units and/or sending units and tanks to get rid of the electric pumps.

Chris, would you scan and post Text-Section 90, Page 31, so Dave can see the applications for the 460 sending units.

Dave, 460 engined trucks with the hot fuel handling package have in-tank electric pumps. I went through a load of trouble trying to find a pump for mine when I first got it, everybody told me it had to be EFI to have in-tank pumps. It was apparently an option.

Here are all 3 pages of the basic 9275 (fuel tank sender without integrated pump). I highlighted where the 460 shows up (or it's implied ("All 6 & 8 cyl. non-EFI gas engines"), which may or may not be a correct part) the green is in E-series vans, the purple is F-series trucks.

I just now noticed the 9275-G is all unleaded-gas non-EFI engines except the 460....

But, here is what I don't know.... For the variants with the in-tank pumps (9350 & 9H307), did ford ever sell those sending units bare? Where the pump could be added separately (or not at all)? They would have two tubes and the wiring at the top would be the 4-conductor variant but the catalog is sometimes pretty vague, no? Would such a component be a 9275?

OK. So, now I think I'm looking for this part:

Pi Ford Parts-Obsolete and NOS Ford parts up to 75% off | E5TZ9275KA

At least that's what I got from the charts Chris put up. Let me know if that is correct.

E5TZ-9275-KA = Two Tubes.

We do not have the non-integral pump type sender listed in the catalog through Spectra, Airtex or Dorman.

Thanks Matt. So, what's the answer here? There has to be sender units that were made for the mechanical pump for a 19 gal steel tank. Maybe not for this year or make truck but they have to exist.

Is there another solution that I'm not seeing? I would very much like to get my fuel gauge working again. It really sucks not knowing how much gas I have left in the tank.

It was rather funny, though. I was putting fuel in the truck thinking I would put in 10 gallons. It was full after 6. I guess I was putting in a little more fuel than necessary for the trips I was making. Better that than running out of gas I guess.

Post 40 = Look thru the three pages that Chris scanned/posted from the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog. Every individual sending unit is listed for all these vehicles.
