In layman's terms, talking only about F100/350 complete pickups, I have always seen them referred to as "side" and "rear." I suppose that's not strictly correct as per Ford and isn't as clear-cut with other vehicles but it's how many Everyday Joes refer to them.

Ford terminolgy: Aft Axle & Mid-ship / When peeps type "rear" this refers to behind the rear axle (aft). I have yet to see anyone type 'side' in lieu of middle or mid-ship.
And btw: How many Ford trucks have you ever seen with a fuel tank at the rear, below the tailgate? Dunno of any, except for the unthinking peeps that install Mustang tanks in this location.
Assume thay are unaware of the exploding Pinto fuel tank FIASCO, or don't give a hoot.
I don't know how this could have been a Frankentruck. The guy I bought it from was not ambitious enough to replace anything on this truck and lazy enough to really screw up the wiring. He put a carpet remnant in place of a back windshield because he was too cheap to replace it. With that being said, the aft-axle tank is the sending unit I need.
This is a Crew cab F-350 long box. It never had an electric fuel pump that I could see. The fuel selector valve still works which is why I'm running on just the front tank (mid-ship) for now. Maybe the guy that owned the truck before the guy I bought it from did put a second tank in, but there should still be a replacement for the sending unit.
Another reason I don't think this is cobbled together is the fillers are in the correct place on the side.
ND, the part number E5TZ-9275-G that you posted previously; what is included with that? For the places that I've looked they have them marked at $180 up (that includes partsguyed.com). That seems awfully expensive for just the sending unit.

From which tank did you remove the sending unit that has this E5TF-EA ID number marked on it?
E5TF-EA = Ford part number: E5TZ-9275-G = Mid-ship Fuel Tank Sending Unit-includes E1VZ-9417-A mounting gasket.
There are 24 Ford parts depot centers (PDC) in the US, none have this sender in stock. Usually on a vehicle this old, this means the part is cancelled, obsolete, not serviced, not replaced.
But who knows for sure since the prices come up on the following websites. Usually when a part is obsoleted, there are two possible messages: This part is discontinued / No part number found.
MSRP: $245.05 / Dealer net cost: $147.03
FTE sponsor tousleyfordparts.com price: $161.63 (Tousley: White Bear Lake MN).
FTE sponsor partsguyed.com price: $176.44 (partsguyed: Horizon Ford Truck Center in Seattle WA).
Neither Tousley or Ed have this part in stock. Since there is no PDC status for it, I doubt it can be ordered from FoMoCo.
No one in IA has any.
VINTAGE PARTS in Beaver Dam WI has 274 = 877-846-8243 / I doubt you can buy it at a discount.
There are myriad other sources that have this part, so if you more, ask. It you want all of them, you'll have to phone me, cuz I'm not typing them all here.
I took this part out of the aft-axle tank. Unfortunately I can't really take both tanks off as I still need the truck to run right now. My Sebring is down right now and my wife uses the van to get to her work.
Anywho, to answer your question, that is the sender that came out of the aft-tank.
I would trust Archion to get you the correct sender, he just went through finding the ones for his 86 and was able to get me the correct module for my midship 19 gal tank now that I have the '90 EFI system.

Uh huh, but it's listed in the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog as a mid-ship tank sending unit.
So, it wasn't in the aft axle tank originally. A previous owner either couldn't find the correct sender, or didn't wanna pay the outrageous MSRP, and found that this one sorta matched the original.
If Archion can find you the correct sending unit, that's just ducky. But, there nothing else that I can do. You have the wrong sender, so its ID number is worthless for finding the correct sender.
ND, I guess it must have worked in the short term. Unfortunately I don't have $300+ to drop into the sendig units. I may have to go the cheaper LMC route for now. I know you get what you pay for but you also pay for what you can afford.

$300.00 +? Where did you see that price? Open your peepers and read post 22 again. I listed the MSRP, the dealer net cost, and if it's still available, you can buy it from Tousley for $161.73
I tried to rep all you guys for helping lavatan but I need to spread the love.
I rep'd 85leBaron2 and Gary...and you too, kiddo...even though you're confused about which side is up, which side is down, which side is forward, which side is aft.
