So I replaced #1 injector, it doesn't look like it seated all the way??? The cup was clean and hold down bolt socket was clean also. I hand tightened to seat the o-rings, then torqued it. It seems like it is an 1/8" higher than the others. What do you think? Is it right?
Critter,
I worked with a guy years back that did that.Put 6 injectors in all with the rubber cap on the tip.I can still hear him complaining "Why are they so Freakin hard to put in".Personaly I didn't think it was posible till I saw it done.
Joe
Basing it on the height next to the rocker it's to high. Pull it out and check everything again. It won't hurt to pull it once.
I did that already, but will do it again just to make sure.
Critter, yep pulled the rubber caps. I almost forgot, but before I installed I compared it against the old one, and was like yea I can't forget about that
If your comparing it to the rocker on #3 it looks like the valves are closed on #3 and open on #1 just making the injector look higher.
probably onto something here if thats where there looking at the rocker or bridge
I was trying to compare it to the OUTER ROCKER CARRIER CASE but the camera is not at the right angle but still trying to compare off a Stationary point
IMO the camera picture is at a BAD angle to really tell anything
need to position the camera difffrent to be able to tell anything over the net
IMO if you know there is only 1 copper washer on and tip protector isnt on dont think it would fit with protector on anyway and the injector is seated FIRMLY in the Injector holdown and injector cup your good to go
I torq mine to 26ft/lbs on the hold downs and no issue I think some guys are even going 28ft/lbs now IIRC
If the copper combustion seal was Burned up and gone when you pulled the injector the holddown/bolt may have Backed out or something like that and The holddown and bolt should be replaced or thats what the techs usualy recomend if this condition exists.
IMO if it still had 1/8 to go before it was properly seated against the injector cup you could wiggle the injector alittle vs the injector feeling Solid when seated. And then again maybe not IDK never tried it.
All I do know as I was tightening the hold down it would get to a certain point and you could tell the injector Droped into the right spot.
