I have been looking for a diesel X and found a 2004 with roughly 180k that has had new injectors installed within the last year and EGR. Truck is a limited and has quad captains and entertainment package etc... asking price is 12,500.
Worth it? What would you do to the engine...bulletproof it?
Would be my bad weather driver and road trip vehicle with the family and lake boat puller.
Thanks!
Also, if anyone knows of any smoking deals on Diesel X's ANYWHERE in the country let me know. I will consider anything under 18k.
I would offer 10,000. Simply because that truck will need possible head gaskets and usual 6.0 work done to it. Is there an egr delete? But I would try to get it Based on the interior alone! I have yet to see one around by me with the 2nd row captains chairs! I also if it was my truck I would bulletproof it right away with a new oil cooler, egr delete, o- ring the heads and head studs.
I like the 6.0 in spite of all the negatives you hear. The issues are well documented at this point and upgrades are readily available if you want them. The transmission is solid with the 6.0
Sounds like the one you are looking at would be a good one if you plan on bulletproofing. It maybe a negotiation tool. Good luck. I've got a coworker in heat for one now!
Personally, I was set on a 7.3L, but with good preventative maintenance, the 6.0L can be a great engine. EGR delete if you can get away with that where you live. The transmission behind the 6.0L is really nice.
I found a 2003 Limited Black with Tan interior and Quad Captains. Original owner is the seller and the truck has 139k miles on it. Picked it up for 15k and it is a 9 out of 10 inside and out! I am stoked, patience pays off! I will bulletproof the thing ASAP and post pictures when I pick it up!
