I had a Ranger with an issue that when it got up to 80 outside or so, it would die, and not restart. I would usually wait an hour or more, then it would fire up. I got the codes checked and it was the Fuel Pump Circuit Open/ CPU to Ground code (what ever that meant)!
Needless to say, no fuel pressure (using a pen, I opened the pressure relief valve when it died and didnt even get a puff). I replaced the fuel pump, sending unit, filter, inertia switch, all relays, pressure regulator, and installed additional grounding cables to the engine bay, and still got no where. I finally sent the truck off to the junk yard.
I am really curious to see what comes out of this with your issue!
