I went ahead a rechecked my cold soak temps using the original oil xguage and the alternate along with the coolant xguage versus the stock fwt. The outside air temp (as shown on the lie-o-meter was 79, TFT 65, Fwt 69, ECT Xguage 70, original EOT 66.5, alternate EOT 105. Also cranked it up and very little smoke but smokes for a few seconds when you rev it up some. Also here are the pics of the egr and the valve taken yesterday.
First off is your heater line vacuum line is disconnected I can see it in the top left of your pics.
Have you checked your ficm main power? I thought I remember hearing ficm voltage issues causing symptoms similar to these. Also is that a reman alternator? Did it go out? That egr valve looks wet on my screen. It should look a lot more dry than that. The o-ring you found I think I remember my replacement standpipe having a o-ring on the bottom of the replacement unit on the bottom where it mates to the housing. It is real easy to pull off to double check
I'll have to check that heater line but I don't recall it being disconnected. All my ficm readings are good. The egr is oily not dry, Blade35 said that can be caused by poor fuel burning iirc, the alternator is a remain and was on the truck when I bought it. I have noticed a 2-3 mpg reduction in fuel economy the last few fillups but have been linking it to more city driving.
That EGR Valve Chamber in intake manafold Looks wet to me to. A pinhole leak in the egr cooler could do that BUT so could Poor Combustion from a bad thermostat that runs too cold
Hows the Coolant leval holding up?????????
I skimed back thru and didnt see it But Hows the FICM Voltage do you have a good 48volts at all times?????
I haven't noticed any coolant loss. FICM voltage is at 48.5 and the others are 12.5-13 according to the scanguage. Now for the wetness, it is thick oily buildup just like what was on my finger, there was no coolant smell. In one pic the flash from the phone really makes it look wet, not saying oily isn't wet but it's nothing that would "pour" or move if the truck were leaning one way or the other. I did have some cooler than I'd like temps back in January but I put in a new thermostat when I did the blue spring and pillar pod setup. I have had slightly less fuel mileage over the last few fillups but don't know if it's related. How long should I let the truck run when checking for wetness, when I checked it hadnt ran 10 minutes tops.
Yes I know what you meanabout the pic and how its wet looking vs Oiley its just hard to say
if the coolant is holding the leval good then the egr cooler is good
you might need to add some Cetain Boost to your fuel some report that helps with MPG and also helps that oiley EGR Valve
Since nothing is coming up here might try an Cylinder Balance Test this will spot a weak injector
also SGII isnt a great code reader I know Oreiylies and Auto Zone will scan for codes free with a Little better code reader than SGII. SGII will only show codes if there is a cel light AFAIK and that only might be generic codes at that not shure a issue like this you will be looking for Manufacture specific codes IMO
Curious if you have solved this. I posted a video last year (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10264415 #15) showing what I think is similar. It is still doing it today. Worse when it is cold. Runs fine besides that.
