I have a friend who wants to build a V8 Ranger. He has a 1993 that before he got it was ridden hard and put up wet to use the horse terminology. The frame is in the words of the local frame shop, pretty well racked. His is a super cab long bed 4wd.
The question is, can a later, say 1998 or newer frame be put under the 1993 body and bed? The reason for that is the ease of sticking a 302 in that frame vs the 1993 twin traction beam frame. This way he would still have a 1993 Ranger by title and for tax purposes.
I believe that 98 and newer got a slight frame stretch between the front cab mount and the radiator support. Check specifications to see if the actual wheelbase is listed the same for pre 98 vs 98 and later. I know the regular cab wheelbases got a couple of inches greater when the regular cab got stretched.
