To add to Doc's statement, to add value to picking up something long distance, make it a family event. Whenever I've traveled a long distance to pick something up I try to make it a family vacation. I find a FTE member near by or a interesting point of interest and take a day or two longer to see the sites with the family. Now that my two boys are grown I haven't done it in a long time but it did make the truck or part I picked up less costly in the over scheme of things.

Why can't cheap decent shape trucks ever show up close to someone really wanting one???

Truck pricing is like real estate, the three biggest factors are location, location, location.

A truck like that one around here would be around $400-500 easy. I think the latest price for scrap around here is $200+/ ton prepared so I'd bet that truck would go $400 as is for scrap.

Fell in love with the one here in Atlanta. $2300 was tempting for a complete truck. It was one of those wife..truck..wife...truck...wife decisions.

Until I get the air conditioner installed in Son #1 1977 F100 and finish Son #2 1967 Mustang, my wife is drawing the line on additional vehicles. That doesn't mean I can't look.

The truck in Atlanta sold and I think a friend of mine picked it up. Have to find out.

I knew when I posted this that distance would be the big drawback for almost everyone, and I truly didn't mean to tease anyone. I know there are a few members in ND, SD, Montana, Wyoming, etc that I thought might be interested. I just know that at $200, someone's going to buy and flip it to the scrap dealer.
