engine running rough, high idle

Hi all, Ive been having trouble with my 1994 Mazda B3000 and was hoping to get some advice.

Awhile ago the truck has started idling high and i found out it was due to a vacuum hose leaking but i havent found it. Now every now and then the truck runs really rough and shakes when i try to accelerate. The stick shift shakes back and forth violently when in gear and accelerating. Also I noticed that the rpm's are higher when the engine is running like this. It does accelerate but VERY slowly. This doesnt happen every time I drive and it happens more often when it is cold or wet outside.

Does anyone know whats going on?
Thanks!

Welcome to FTE.

You may have more than one problem.

If you have a CEL lit, run this puppy by your favorite autoparts store for a no cost computer trouble code scan & post All code Numbers, as they can offer up good trouble shooting clues.

You need to get this problem fixed, as running the engine with messed up fuel trim won't do it or the cat converters any good. Let us know what you find.

"Most" parts stores can only read OBDII.

critterf1 is right about most autoparts stores not being able to pull OBD-1 codes, my local Advance Auto uses an Actron CP9145 scantool with cables that'll hook up & read most Fords back to 85, so call around to see whats available in your area if you don't have a code reader.

All that said, you can pull the trouble codes yourself on your ODD-1 system, using the instructions in the 3.0L Tech Info page posted by Rockledge. Lots of good wrench turning 3.0L info there, so have a look-see. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-and-tips.html

A number of things could be causing your problems, so any code clues can help narrow down your trouble shoot.
Post All trouble code Numbers found, as they can offer up good trouble shooting clues.
Also post the vehicles mileage & where you are on all past & present due scheduled maintenance items & any recent repairs or parts replacements, as they can figure in on a trouble shoot.
