I tried to look in past threads and had no luck with this so here it is: I've got about two hours in trying to remove the pin out of the rear leaf springs to get them away from the frame so I can sandblast it. I can get the aft pins out but not the front. I feel stupid having to ask this question, but is there a trick to getting them out? I'm trying to work on this today, if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone that knows about this could call me, that would be GREAT!! 901-299-1970
a big hammer. really tho, a real big hammer.
i've had to cut the bolts off leaf springs of trucks that had sat for years and years, hopefully you wont have to do that.
so maybe theres a seasoned veteran that know's a good trick that will be along soon.
On my 56, there is a hole thru the frame, centered on the spring hanger pin, located just above and inside the crossmember. I used an air hammer and punch to drive the pin out. I hope your 52 has the same hole.
I just did this very thing today on my '50 F2. It's very hard to get a long enough punch at the right angle to drive it out. I was finally able to get it just far enough to pull it out from the other side.
I had to take the grease zirk out then take a bolt that would thread into the pin, put a couple of larger washers on the bolt and then the boxed end of the wrench behind the washer, thread it onto the pin a ways and then used a hammer to knock out the pin by hitting the wrench. I used a wrench so I had something to hold onto. It took awhile but there was no hole on the inside of my 52 to get a punch onto the pin. It wasn't fun but I got the pin out. I also tried to sawzall the pin but the spring bracket go in the way. Good Luck
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I got both of the forward pins out. I had to use a blue wrench and air hammer and I drilled a hole in the brace to get a long punch to it.
Thanks again everyone. I hope to meet y'all at Pigeon Forge in June.

I did like Twise. After appropriate heat and PB Blaster, I threaded a bolt to the 1/8" pipe thread of the zirk, slipped a deep socket and flat washers over the bolt, and cranked the SOBs out.
