The 6.0 bolts in but IIRC needs a little work with the lines, the tru cool will need you to find a place to mount it.

Let me make sure I understand you correctly....
You would much rather plumb in an extra cooler, rather than use something that bolts right in and all you have to do is reduce the lines from 1/2 to 3/8?

so bottomline which aftermarket one is good in performance and also a drop in replacement??
im sorry for all the questions im just looking to drop temp while towing
You seem to be confusing Intercooler and Trans cooler. They are not related.
Both the 6.0 IC and the 6.0 Trans Cooler will drop in to a 7.3.
The 6.0 Trans Cooler will lower trans temps while the 6.0 IC has not been shown to effectively lower EGTs in a 7.3L.
I went with the 6.0 and couldn't be happier! You can look on Craigslist or salvage yards. Bolts right up! And with Ken's (Woodnthings) step by step instructions, you can't go wrong
If I could find one for cheap I would get one. But they just dont pop up very often here.
Off hand, one would think that the 31 row tranny cooler from the 6.0 PSD would cool better than the 26 row in the same truck. Since I plan to do this upgrade in the not too distant future, do you have a link(s) to tests anyone did to demonstrate this?

The 26 row was released after the 31. It has improved flow.
The 26 Row cooler is plenty. It has been shown that the 26 row cooler is more effecient than the 31 row cooler. Any of the 6.0L years will have both part numbers as options. If you are buying a wrecking yard one, make sure you clean it or have it cleaned before installing, also make sure you install a filter post cooler to catch anything that might have been stuck in it. Good Insurance!!!
