im looking to put a john wood valve body in my truck, i was thinking about getting some motor work done after that and was wondering..who makes the most reasonably priced torque converter with a good quality, names and prices would be appreaciated....thank guys
I don't think you should. When, not if, your trans breaks, and you know a used trans usually breaks before a new one, all things being equal, do you know what has to be done? Your expensive TC has to be cut apart, cleaned, welded back together and balanced. So, unless you are willing to part with several hundred dollars, just leave it alone and replace it with a new trans.
A new expensive TC when it is not needed is like mating a hot stud like myself with a 70yo grandma. It can be done but why?
how long would a 4r100 tranny last with stage IIs, dp tuner, adreanline HPOP, i'm definatly putting a JW valve body in it..im guessing i will prob be around the 400hp range soo im guessing my tranny could hold that no problem

With the engine off? Forever.
Otherwise, not long if you keep the foot on the skinny pedal
who can i call for a 6.0l tc?? cause im guessing they need to be reworked?
I THOUGHT John Wood was doing that conversion piece. Why don't you get a new stock TC and be done with it? This is an old trans. Why do you think it is worth the time and money for any upgrade at this point? I bought the VB because I know I can get credit for it when I upgraded the trans. IF you are not doing that now, why bother? Is it worth it only to have it fail soon? If I had done that, I'd be SOL since my trans crapped out 1 month after the VB install. Wasted all that good fluid too. When the diode gave way, everything was toast. Within 1 mile of it locking up, the fluid was burnt black although the temp never got past 220. Had to drive 100 miles back home and when we dropped the pan, there was black fluid with some sludge.
well if i get an upgraded TC it may help the tranny last a little longer..i dont know how long the stage IIs with the adreanline HPOP will make the tranny last and if it goes then atleast ill hjave a new tC to go with a new tranny

Actually, some have said that it will stress the trans into an early grave.
I'm not following your thinking here. When, not if, the trans goes, the only way to reuse that TC is to pay for it to be cut apart, cleaned, welded back together and rebalanced. I know that Precision Industries charged me about $400 to do that on my 700R4 TC. Only a fool of a builder would allow you to reuse the TC WITHOUT it being cleaned and warranty his work. You try that to me and I will have you sign a waiver to say "Taillight Warranty". That or blame your TC if you come back with problems.
ok pretty much im getting some motor work done not a whole lot, just the injectors, turbo, and going to put a jw valve body in and didnt really think i would need a whole new tranny just for that amount of power

It is always the same story. Fix motor, break trans. Fix trans, break rear end. Repeat.
The reason I put a 6L tc in mine is because my stock 7.3 tc was not locking up at all meaning Its almost undriveable. instead of ditching my reman tranny which shifts perfectly, I put a little money at a 6l tc being a slight upgrade and for a very small cost, have put at least another 10k on my trans and am still driving.
