I'm looking into a JW valve body. I'm looking to increase the life of my trans. It has a rebuild about 30,000 miles ago. I read that the best thing to do is the torque converter. If so what is the best TC to go with?
What else can I do to beef up my trans and help it last?
I've got one, it quickens the shifts and they feel more firm is what I get out of it. I am looking at torque converters myself. The problem is I have an 01 with the diode so I am on borrowed time anyway. I am not sure I want to dump money in a converter to have the tranny take a dump anyway.
Do the trucool and 6.0 cooler just drop in place? And where can I pick one up that will be the right one for the truck
I went with the 6.0 and couldn't be happier! You can look on Craigslist or salvage yards. Bolts right up! And with Ken's (Woodnthings) step by step instructions, you can't go wrong
A decent double or triple disk converter will be $700-$1400. You can pick up a stock one for $395.
If you are looking to upgrade, spend the money and get a good one. You can also check the prices from Ford on the upgraded one they install in the HD4R100. It may be a decent price too. Tousley Ford would be able to give the specific P/N and probably the best quote too.
