I'm going to be putting in a new fuel pump on my '77 F250 this weekend and have one question. Do I need a gasket? I didn't even think of that when I was at the parts store getting the pump and the guy there didn't mention it (they're good with stuff and are actual car guys). I don't feel like being surprised when I'm in the middle of it and then not being able to find one locally.
I'm a *******. I just checked the box and it had a gasket in it. It was in with the instructions or whatever they are so I missed it when I pulled the pump out to look at it.

Crisis averted.
