Ok I have said it before. I am electronically challenged. I want to replace my points in my 74 wagon. I sourced a harness and coil from my parts stash from my 79 150 rebuild. I bought a dura spark 2 dist and had several of the blue grommet control boxes. So with that being said I thought I knew how to complete the swap but after searching this site and the pages of articles on the subject I am now confused. Can someone simplify this for me. 4 wire plug at box to three wire plug at dist. Green wire to tach or minus side of coil. White wire from box to selinoid "s" side. Original power wire to + side of coil. Where does the box red go? Did I get the other steps right?
Red wire from module will go to a run only source that bypasses the factory resistor wire. Either directly to the ignition run, or there is a wire going into the voltage reg that is a full 12V in run. I don't have a diagram in front of me, but I can tell you the wire color if you need.
If you have time please let me know what wire I need going into the voltage reg for a 74. This truck has a totally uncut harness so i am trying not to cut into anything under the dash. Also the coil I have has a resister with it. I have see conflicting views on using it or not?
Thank you
