Im new to the forum and I am trying to find out some information on my order. I ordered my new 2012 FX4 with appearance pack and luxury package screw with the ecoboost in tuxedo black on 30/03/2012. My dealer called today and said that there is a large back log at the factory with these trucks due to the rims. Does anyone have experience with an order of this truck? Or info on the shortage? My dealer says over 12 weeks to see the truck at best. Trying to hold out hope but might have to change my order and lose out on the dream truck. Thanks in advance for your help.
Don't give up the ship. If it's your dream truck then it will be worth the wait.
The question that I would have for the dealer would be more in the line of rebates. Do you get the incentives at the time of order or delivery? I've read that you can claim the better of the two on an ordered vehicle.
Have you established financing yet? If not, you have a little extra time to get the best rates in town.
In the mean time, log in here everyday and learn as much as you can about your beautiful new rig.
Where are you located? I bought mine just a couple of weeks ago and the dealer had plenty matching that description on the lot. And gave me a far better deal than I could get locally. If you're willing to travel a little you might get a different answer.
Im in northern canada looked across the southern part of AB and couldnt find one at all in any dealer inventory, my dealership found one in QC but odds are wont be dealing to get one from across the country. I dont wanna give up on the truck by anymeans just hoping to find some info on the shortage maybe find a silver lining in the cloud. Thnx for the replies
I don't think the delay is linked to your black rims, I just got my 2012 f150 fx4 Sterling grey with the apperance package w/ the black 20's and had no problems here in Maryland. I heard through several websites that there was an issue with the tuxedo black paint (made in Japan) and has been delayed due to the quake messing up the manufacturing plant for the paint??? I would wait it out and get what you want...believe me it is worth the wait!

Welcome to FTE sir. The Tuxedo black has been resolved and is back in production to the best of knowledge.

Your right Tim, I ordered my Tuxedo Black on 2/27 and it was built the week of 3/26, so Tuxedo Black is not an issue. It is currently having a sightseeing trip by rail since the beginning of the month. Hopefully it will arrive soon..
Huh well if you got yours that quickly then I'm not sure what the hold up could be. I did hear about tux black but that was resolved i think a few months after quake. I think maybe its the rubber that is the issue maybe looking to get black writing instead of the white but its a shot in the dark still no update from dealer, gonna hang in there for now. Thanks for the replies, hopefully someone will have some more info and I can get a better ball park. How do you like your eco with lux and appearance?
