Take care.

It's been 8 years since my first post here. I started out in the Off Road section back when it was hoppin' with Proeliator and Ivan Ribic which included their incessant wise cracks and Godlike presence. Everyone seemed to idolize them.

I had since moved to the 94.5-97 PSD section and finally here in the 99-03 PSD section over the years as trucks were bought and sold. With that being said..........

This will be my final post on this forum. I have found throughout the last year that taking short breaks from the internet diesel community really improves my overall mood and well-being. This last break really sealed the deal and since I have returned, I have once again become very cynical, sarcastic, moody, and really unpleasant to be around (both here in La-La Land and in the real world). It's time that I fall off of the wagon for good because I really don't like wasting so much valuable time reading the same old garbage concerns that a simple search would easily answer. I am tired of reading the same incorrect jargon and having to hold my tongue when it comes to blatant disregard for factual information. I have found internet forums to be the sole contributor to perpetuating the ignorance in the diesel community (youtube comes in a close second) and the main reason of lost money due to incoherent/incorrect guesses on remote diagnosis. There are far too few people who are willing to step in and point people in the right direction and those who do are often a day late and a dollar short because somebody else has already jumped in spewing "internet forum facts" regarding something that they read.....that was initially posted by something somebody else read.....that was heard from another guy's uncle dad.

If nobody else can see it, I urge you to look deeper; the diesel community has become littered with people such as those that I used to call "ricers" back in the day because, like "ricers", it's all about image and noise. Few care about performance from a correctly running, well-tuned vehicle. As long as it smokes, idles terribly, and all-the-while attracts attention aesthetically (I'm surprised I don't see more "spoilers" and "ground effects" on these trucks), it's all good. Sure, I like a good-looking and unique truck myself. However, to go out with the sole purpose of pissing off other motorists with loud exhaust (fart can anyone?), horrible sounding engine that smokes like a pile of burning tires (like it is on it's last leg), and an arrogant attitude that radiates disregard of others on the road (driving recklessly while creating billowing clouds of black smoke) because of indifference does little more than inspire a complete loss of confidence in the diesel community.

The world as we know it is in a tailspin and it's rather unfortunate that things are going to get far worse than they are now before they get any better. However, it's important to remember that we must treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated. The mantra, "Do unto others before they do unto you." is very well versed by too many people these days and it's bad enough that we all must deal with it in our daily lives much less within our internet fantasy worlds.

I will apologize for my rant within a resignation in advance if anyone is offended. These are my observations and opinions (you know what they say about opinions!). I have been very fortunate and very blessed over the course of my life but I have read the last chapter it is time to close this book and put it on a shelf.

Good luck and take care. I will not check-up on this thread. Replies are not necessary and will not be countered. This is simply a heads-up to those who may notice my absence.

Well Cody, I really hate to see you leave, I enjoy your perspective. You will be missed. I continued to wonder just like your previous post, why waste you remaining 88 posts on "this". You tried to change the world and it didn't want to change, valiant effort however.

Well, lots of drama. Interesting post if you don't plan on ever checking in again. I can see how dealing with it all day at work and then in the evenings as well might get old. I come here to get away from things and because there's nothing good on tv anymore.

Sounds like you take things to personally. You can't change the world, and some people just have to learn things the hard way. As Will ROgers said, “There are three kinds of men. The ones that learn by readin’. The few who learn by observation.
The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”

Perhaps one day you'll stop back by out of idle curiosity and check in with us again. This thread does kind of lend itself to a sequel. If not, good luck and God bless.

Wow. Think he has listened to a little too much of Glen Beck. Gloom and Doom.

Sorry to see someone that appeared to very knowledgeable leave. I understand what he said completely and that is why I try to make sure what I post is accurate and not just something I heard somewhere. I sure don't know everything but try to learn as much as I can. We need people on here that really know what they are talking about to set the record straight when incorrect information is being given.

Good luck,

Hate to see you go. I've always respected your opinion.

This. He's right.

I've noticed a lot of this on all the boards lately. One person post a solution that fits a few symptoms and a bunch more jump on board in support, even though it can not even come close to accounting for other problems and there is still much troubleshooting to be done. Then someone post the correct solution/next step and it goes unnoticed because of 30 post in the wrong direction.

First off, I always loved the Beavis.

Second, to echo the gist of Neal's post with that freaky white boy with the Indy accent, Cody had the knack of explaining complex concepts in the simplest way. Good chit that I copied for future reference. Cuz the teacher appears when the student is ready, and sometimes I'm not ready. But I'm pretty sure more fuel faster is a good thing.

Third, he's doing the right thing for him as he sees it, so rock on.

Fourth, when a champion falls the warrior rises up to become the champion.

Fifth, that pastard still owes us 78 posts on his 3k limit.

After being here for a while, you sorta' recognize who knows his smoke, and who is just smokin' em'.

Though he didn't make his "full pull" of greenies, in under three thousand posts he made a heckuva' dent it it, and they weren't just for telling funny jokes, either.

That tells me that his technical participation was positive, and our group is diminished for his leaving.

I understand his frustration at spinning his wheels once-in-a-while, but most of the time he had good traction.....

So long, Cody. I love it when statements are made that can be backed by facts; not the "he said, she said". Your "straight shooting" will be missed.

He's right across the board. I have a lot of experience dealing with complex things that most don't understand and tend to oversimplify (like my early assumptions on diesel tuning). It can get aggravating when people argue against true knowledge and I have (regrettably) contributed to this in some degree - only to learn from him by asking for more details. Cody has taught me to look deeper into the complexities of diesels and tuning and I learned the difference between the posters who know and know they know it, the ones who don't know and know they don't know, and the ones who don't know and think they know it.

When something becomes hard on one's chi, it's a wise person who recognizes this and takes appropriate steps to address it. Here's to Cody.
