Headlight Switch/****

Does anyone know what length shaft the headlight switches from NPD or DC use? The catalogs list one switch for 62-63 but two different length shafts one is 2.5" and the other 3.5".

FoMoCo sold the headlamp switches **** and shaft as a one piece assembly, neither the **** nor the shaft was available by themselves. The **** and shaft did not come with the switch.

The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN / FYI: NPD has a parts warehouse located in beautiful downtown Ventura / DC is located in Concord NC

C1TF-11661-B .. **** & Shaft Assembly-2 1/4" long.

1961/62 F100/600 / 1963 F100/600, N/NT/T500/600 before serial number 400,001 // 1965/67 Econoline.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C3TZ-11661-D .. **** & Shaft Assembly-3 3/16" long.

1963 F100/1100, N/NT/T500/1000 from serial number 400,001 / 1964/66 F100/1100 / 1964/69 N/NT/T500/1000 / 1966 Bronco / 1967/69 F800/1000.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1961/64 F100/600's used one headlamp switch: C2DZ-11654-A (Motorcraft SW-303) / SAME switch as 1962/63 Falcon/Comet.

1965/72 F100/750 (and etc) used another:

D3ZZ-11654-A (replaced: C5DZ-11654-A, C5TZ-11654-A & C, D2ZZ-11654-A) .. Headlamp Switch Kit (Motorcraft SW-1245).

Other applications: 1965/66 Mustang / 1965/70 Falcon / 1966/75 Bronco / 1970/72 Maverick/Comet / 1971/72 Mustang/Cougar / 1976 Bronco before serial number C25,001.

This is a FoMoCo "universal fitz-all" service part replacement switch, comes with extra parts and an instruction sheet for its various applications.

Even though this kits part number prefix reflects a 1973 Mustang, it was not used on 1973 Mustang's, nor Cougar's!

the difference in the switch is that there was a spacer used on the early trucks which had the fuse block integral with the headlight switch plug in...this is so you could get to the fuses vs having them under the dash the extra inch w/o the spacer...the replacement switches all come with the spacer...loose vs spot welded as original on the trucks that used them.
If you need a **** and shaft pm me for more info...
Putting the switch with the seperate spacer in with the nut is a pain...getting it lined up long enough to get the nut started...ughhh...

Thanks for the info guys. My headlight switch started cutting out on me when i was driving over the weekend (both headlights shut off then after playing with the switch for a couple min they came back on) so im gonna order a new switch and **** from DC. The switch they have for 62-64 is C4DZ-11654-A. What length **** would go with that one?

You sure it's the headlight switch? Step on the headlight dimmer switch, see what happens. When the switch is bad, when switching from low to high beams or vice versa, the headlights go off...common problem.

C4DZ-11654-A (replaced C2DZ-11654-A) = 1962/64 F100/600 / 1962/64 Falcon/Comet / 1965/67 Econoline.

1962-64 what? Falcon?
Ya im sure it's the headlight switch. I didn't touch the high beams.

The Dennis carpenter catalogue I have lists three switches.

1961 C1DF-11654-A
1962-1964. C4DZ-11654-A
1965-1972. D3ZZ-11654-A

Those numbers are on page 71

1961 C1DF-11654-A
1962-1964. C4DZ-11654-A replaced C2DZ-11654-A
1965-1972. D3ZZ-11654-A replaced C5DZ-11654-A / C5TZ-11654-A / C5TZ-11654-C / D2ZZ-11654-A

Looked in the O-S-I (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) catalog, C4DZ-11654-A is correct, cuz it replaced C2DZ-11654-A, what my 1964/72 truck catalog shows for 1962/64 F100/600's.

Ok so which length **** and shaft assembly goes with that switch?

The info you posted above says the length changes in 63 (checked my serial and my truck should have the 2.25" shaft). But the switch is listed from 1962-1964 could have either length???

The **** and shaft (either length), has been repro'd by DC and etc. Do you have DC's 1957/66 truck repro parts catalog? Look on page 99.

If you don't have it, be aware that DC's "Ford" part numbers may be "made up phony-baloney's" like the numbers for these two parts. Neither is the same as I typed in post 2.

Contact NPD (National Parts Depot), see if they have it. If so, whiz on down to their Ventura store and buy it, or have it shipped.

So I'm just gonna order the switch then order the **** after the fact. In my experience the NPD store in Ventura normally doesnt stock much at all for these trucks. All of the parts Ive gone to there counter to purchase or ordered online were then shipped from across the country.

Here's what my current ***** look like. All of mine are originals except for the one on the wipers and the head light **** assembly.

As you can see the one on the wiper switch doesnt slide down far enough to sit flush like it should.
