multiple light switch sizes?
Anyone know which is correct for the '65?
Checked with the retailer and they claim that the switch should fit my truck.
Wondering if at some point a previous owner swapped the switch and shaft, or if I jsut got a bunk switch.

or interchangeably if you remove a couple of tiny spot welds on an extra bracket
C5TZ-11654-A (SW-439)
Both of these switches have a small spring loaded plunger in the bottom that retains the shaft and **** assembly. You don't screw the shaft into the switch, simply line it up and push it straight in. You don't necessarily have to depress the plunger to install the shaft and ****, only to remove it, but it doesn't hurt anything, either.

In either case of which switch above, the **** is black with a white center like the cigar lighter and heater and wiper controls.
The headlamp switch **** & shaft is a one piece assembly.
C3TZ-11661-D .. Headlamp Switch **** & Shaft Assembly - 3 3/16"long: 1963/66 F100/1100.
C1TF-11661-B .. Headlamp Switch **** & Shaft Assembly - 2 1/4"long: 1961/62 F100/1100.
DC shows this switch - you can see the extra bracket like SW-439 would have spot welded to it. Our trucks don't use that extra bracket from what I've seen.

The **** and shaft - their applications are wrong no matter what and I don't see anything in the picture to keep the shaft from sliding back out - where's the groove near the tip? Maybe just a bad pic. And how long is the shaft? I guess if it's the longer one it could be cut to length for the earlier year trucks.

I'm beginning to think that maybe the switch/sleeve/**** assembly was replaced with a different switch from a different FoMoCo model. The new switch I received was supposed to fit every F100 up to the mid 70's.
You probably need a nut like C3TZ-11650-A which is 5/8" O.D. x 1 3/16" long. That would have been the part number for the nut for 1965 and 1966 F100 and F250.
