Leaks behind dash

So my trucks carpet has been getting more and more soaked, looking like from up behind where the clutch pedal sits looking at the foot area, and then runs down into the rest of the foot area...

I initially thought it was most likely the windshield, but when I took the windshield trim off to seal it up, I realized that it seemed like it was coming from somewhere else..
So what I think might be happening, is the area between the cab and firewall has a seam that has been sealed up with something from the dealer, but is cracked and pretty crumbly, there is also a fair bit of surface rust on the spot, which isn't directly exposed to weather.. leading me to think this might be the culprit of the leak. I attached some pics to show the spot I think it is... has anyone had a leak in this area? and how did you patch it up?

Have someone spray the truck down with a hose and you check inside to see if it leaks in. Are you sure its not coolant? Might be the heater core leaking and not showing up on pass side.

Here's a pic on the inside of approx where I can see the leak, it has noise dampening all along it though which is tricky to pull out without cutting up..

It's definitely not coolant. When I spray down that whole area with a hose, water leaks down the engine side of the firewall, and somewhere on the inside a drip forms that runs down the floor from the firewall somewhere..

Found a steady stream coming in from right here with the hose going..

and this spot filled entirely up with water.. leading me to think that debris might be clogging it so that it doesn't drain and the water looks for the path of least resistance then... Any idea how to clean that out?

It's the area right in with the fender

Leaks behind dash

Take the inner fender loose at the back edge, you will see a rubber drain at the bottom of the air box area. Look at the bottom right of the picture and you can see the drain (this my 86, but those didn't change as far as I know)

you should look up where the brake pedal bolts to the bracket. look above that bracket with a flashlight. in the 1st pic i see like a black foam that the factory used in the cowl. on my truck the black foam was not sealed good from the factory and water collected under it for 13 yrs and rusted through right above the bracket straight through the cowl. i had to repair a hole the size of my fist after grinding away all the rust. i found that hole by peeling away the foam after seeing the rust from the under side of the cowl above the bracket. repairing that hole was not easy. i wanted to weld it but the wiper arm thats bolted to the bracket outside was in the way so instead of cutting the bracket i used left over glue that is used today at most auto repair shops instead of welding body panels back on and it took me 2 days and left over sheetmetal i got from a body shop my friend works at. i really wish i had it welded but i would have to cut that bracket off just to work on that area and then weld the wiper arm bracket back on. it would have just created more work for me and money too. that glue is pretty strong and just to undo it would be a big deal if i wanted to weld that hole shut 1 day. it doesn't leak anymore since then but, in the back of my mind i still think about it and want to weld it some day but, for now it is what it is and it doesn't leak anymore so i guess thats the whole point to it. i hope this helps you some or at least a little bit. good luck you'll need it.

In my 89 F250 I had a cowl leak. I cleaned out the area best as I could and removed any loose sealer. I then used paint on bed liner paint. After 4 coats the area was sealed pretty good! Be prepaired to become one with that paint getting in those tight areas. That stuff DON'T come off skin!
