New Carb

Lots of carb posts recently so I thought I'd share my recent experience. The truck is a '78 F250 4wd with 400M. It has just over 40k miles and aside from maintenance items and some body repairs is pretty much all original.

Anyhow, the 34 year old carb was at the end of its rope. Gumout helped it for a while but not any more. Medium term, it will get an upgraded cam and EFI but I wasn't ready to do that now and wanted to keep it driveable so... off to Autozone for a rebuilt original. I installed it, rough set the idle mix and fired it up. It works great. The rich stumbling idle is all cleared up and its acceleration stumble is gone also. Besides enjoying driving the truck, I'll work on other projects and maybe get back into the engine this winter.

Congratulations, these ol' trucks are always more fun when they're running right
