I had CarToys install a Avital 4103 no frills remote start.
It has various starter crank times (after firing). It was set on the default, which was .6 sec, but it would not fire up every time. I took it in and the tech reset it two more steps up in time. I noticed tonight after it was warm, sat for a half hour or so, and the same thing happened. It fired but did not start.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what the crank time should be?
Does the remote have a wait time the the glow plug to warm up like 20 sec for the glow plug light to go out. I think you set that for 4 sec of crank time.
Just taking a stab in the dark here. Does the key have a chip in it? Read somewhere that the key has to be nearby as in inches at max for a remote starter to work on some vehicles. Might try installing the key and try it remotely. If that solves it sacrafice a key, cut the teeth off and wire the key stub in the stering column really close to the key hole. My $00.02 worth.
Those alarms/remote start hide a chipped key by the column, my sensor wire had shifted and it wouldn't remote start. bb fixed it for free, lifetime for viper, regardless of owners

I have a Python alarm Remote Start same company (Directed Electronics)This crank time never came up when I had it installed.
The only thing that came up was GP on time. IIRC mine is set at 30 seconds for GP warmup
I beleive these High End Units monitor the Engine and know when it Acheives Engine Run and stops the starter from being energized
They also told me it will shut Down if it senses a Engine Issue or CEL
I beleive all the Directed Products for alarm remote start are similair as they monitor the engine and shutdown if theres a problem its a GREAT SAFTEY Feature
This is one of those things you get what you pay for and the sky is just abbout the Limit
So if I was you Id have the Install Guy show you how to change it cuz it might take some messing with to get it where it starts every time
And if it even started one time with the key/chip not in the vehicle this isnt your a key with a chip in it problem
