In our 2002 Explorer, we must have left a light on or a door ajar last weekend because the battery was dead the next morning. Well, after getting a jump, we were off and running again.
But, now neither the keyless entry nor the key fob will work. I have tried the factory code on the credit card in the manual, but it will not open the door locks. The keypad does light up though. None of the buttons on the keyfob will do anything.
Is there a reset that I need to do? Or did we blow a fuse to something that I haven't found yet?
I tried unhooking the battery cable. Left it off for a minute or so, then reconnected. Keyless entry pad and keyfob both still don't work.
When I press the first digit on the keyless entry pad, the pad lights up and the courtesy lights come on. But the factory code does not unlock the doors.
Interesting though, when you press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons, it still locks the doors.
I am having same problem as with 1996 ford explorer.
dor combination works ok to lock and unlock, but fobs do not work nor will it alow me to unlock the door with my key.
local ford tech suggested hold down both lock and unlock buttons at same for 10 seconds, but that did not work either. Need help
I unhooked neg cable and leftfor almost an hour. NOthing happened other that I had to reprogram my radio and clock. stillno action wiht the FOBS. Also Don't think I mentioned previously, but the key will not work in the drivers' side dor, but will work in both liftgate and passenger's side door
We have a friend who owns the local Ford dealership. He was out walking in the neighborhood this weekend and my wife was talking with him about the problems. He jumped in the Explorer, turned the key on/off several times, and now the keyfob is back working.
As for the keyless entry on the door, he said to bring the Explorer down to the garage and he would get it back working for us.
I will try to get some details from him when we get a chance to take it in.
