Anyone try these ?
At $10.00 a pop are they worth it ?
My daily driven work truck is a 1988 f350 460 fi ZF5 ,3.55 gears and is 9000lbs as it sits (utility body )
Any input positive or negative helpful !!
I've had discussions about these before on other auto forums- the general consensus is, and I'm gonna try to quote everybody at once here....
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Okay, so maybe that's not an exact quote. But generally speaking, nobody believes they will actually deliver the results the ads promise they will; and many have different reasons for it.
Personally, I think they COULD work, but it will require upgrading your entire ignition system versus just installing the plug as the ads claim. And it could be that they only work on certain engines. I've seen and heard about a lot of different "upgrades" that sound like snake oil right off the bat, and yet they seem to work for some and not for others.
But for me, $80 is too much to spend for something that may not give me any results at all.
the best spark plug to use in a ford gas engine is either a motorcraft or autolite copper core plug.
"better" is not better. these trucks were designed to use plain old copper core plugs. anything else will make them run like crap.
ive been looking into those plugs too and a friend said after he put them in his truck he could feel a slight boost, but then again he needed new spark plugs anyways
Save your money and use Autolite copper cores. These engines were designed to run them, and you'll see no benefits to running plats, double plats, iridiums, etc. The only reason those kind of plugs are made is for longer change intervals, usually 100k.
AC Delco for GM products
Autolite/Motorcraft for Ford products
Champion for Chrysler products and lawnmowers
Denso and NGK for Asian imports
Bosch for most German imports
i have had at least 50 cars and trucks come to me over the years for a miss to diagnose.
every single one have been tuned up by someone using "only the best parts".
the first thing i do is pull a spark plug to see what is in there.
every one had had some kind of fancy platinum, iridium, triple contact, split fire, NGK, or whatever spark plug in them you could imagine, except for plain old cheap motorcraft or autolite copper core plugs.
i swap in as set of copper cores and send it on the way with the "best spark plugs money can buy" sitting on the seat in a plastic bag, telling the owner what the problem was.
just like
K&N air filters.
if they are so dang good, why don't ford use them?
because they ain't all that good, that is why!
