Well, since I seem to be Search button impaired, I guess I'll ask.I'm wondering if anyone has done sparkplug side side gapping before. Did it make any difference? The theory seems to make sense.
For something similar to this side gap concept, check this out, http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1458763, this is interesting, these are the stock design plugs in my import. The spark actually runs along the insulator and then jumps from the insulator to the negative electrode. You can see the tracks on the insulator. These plugs work better than any other type of plug in my particular import motor for some reason, maybe because the spark is more exposed, maybe because the spark running across the insulator keeps the carbon from building up. The plugs are $35 for 6, not cheap.
My point is that here is at least one manufacturer making engines that come with similar plugs from the factory and they work great. Maybe it's worth trying.
I have heard of people doing it, but never tried it. I am of the opinion that if it were so great, the plug compnies would do it in the first place. It wouldn't cost them any more money. If it were a performance gain, they would be crazy not to do it.

You have a good point there.
The only reason I can think of why the plug companies would not do it is that the plugs need to be replaced more often, due to the center electrode burning away faster.
