2004 ICP issue

My truck has been surging both at IDLE and in motion.

It threw and ICP code so I replaced the ICP. It didnt fix the issue.

Today I bought a new harness even though the old one looks fine. (No oin). The ICP I replaced also looked fine.

I'll replace the wire harness to the ICP this weekend. If this doesn't resolve the issue should I buy another ICP?

Anyone ever had this issue?

Easy to find out, just unplug it and if the surge is still present, you have other issues

Sorry I left that out. I've been driving for a month unplugged with no issues. I was just wondering if it could be anything else causing the ICP to go out.

I'll know more after replacing the harness.

Thanks for the response.

Your saying...you unplug the ICP and problem goes away?

You plug it in and problem occurs?

Benny's on the right track, if you didn't replace the pigtail...thats probably your problem....

I might have to change the name of this thread.

I was looking at the ICP Pigtail and noticed the Radiator Overflow looked dark. It looks like there is oil in it.

If I need to replace the head gasket do you think that could be the reason I'm getting the ICP code and surging?

I've had the truck for 2 years, It has 109,000 miles on it. Its always smelled like radiator fluid when it I push it up a mountain or work it hard.

The highest the engine temp got today was 202 and I was pushing it on some hills.

If theres Oil In Coolant bottle the Oil Cooler is Bad

A Bad HeadGasket wont cause oil in coolant Bottle

is it like a chocolate milkshake color

Is the Oil Leval Low

If its oil in there Dont drive it or Start it for that matter it clogs things up worse

Yep chocolate milk. Its at the tire shop right now. Its worth having it towed? Its about 8 miles from home.

Towed would be the Best It up to you though

you would more than likly make it 8 miles but the more it runs even turned on at all the worse it will get Clogged up. Just depends how long its been going on and how much oil is pumped in the coolant.

And you have a Big mess already on your hands depending how long the oil cooler has been leaking oil into coolant. The problem is it starts getting like a thicker paste mix the more oil it gets in there and the water pump dont pump paste.

this could be causing your surge issue
