Bought a 2004 escape 3/0L and am currently experiencing catalic converter problems. Clogged up burnt up melted who knows what eltz. I found the connector shown mounted vertically to the left of crankshaft pulley is connected to a 02 sensor and the other end going to harness has been torn completely out from the harness. I think it went to a severely twisted wire that I found that runs into a larger harness connection at the alternator.. Wires look like they have been caught up in the serpentine belt or alt pulley.I'm lookin for a PCM pinout so I can bypass the ruined wiring all together..You can see the blue connector in the attached photo This is the connector location.
this is a better look at my problem this is the o2 sensor on passenger side 2004 3.0L escape. At the bottom of connector o2 sensor plugs in to harness harness wires were severed by serp belt at alternator I believe this is the mangled and twisted harness wires to the -2 sensor connector.
A little update.....I was finally successful in removing the damaged section of the O2 sensor wires. I know one of these wires carried a 12V positive to the heated sensor . The removed section alone has corrected a dead short to the PCM. I am having to work blind and with one hand, as I am attempting the repair between firewall and engine above the alternator. Does anyone know of a good one-handed wire splicing method?
@Beshires1 I know your post was an eon ago, but was hoping you had any advice/tips in dealing with this area. My 04 escape decided to catch fire when my alternator stopped working. I am now throwing codes that all relate to the wiring harness, which, as you know, are a pain to access. Thank you

WELCOME TO FTE
50 years in dealership shops i found there was no real easy way to fix a burnt harness, my best way was to free it up to where it could be worked on open it up 1 wire at a time, proper sized waterproof heat shrink crimp slice . retape. Take your time being very careful all the way .
good luck
Very tight around that area. I just got done putting a motor in my 2005 V-6. I'm glad it is done and up and running. Probably best to remove alternator to have room to work on the wires.
