Android Scanner Application
I am also curious what adapter radmacks is using.
AE Ford bundle is programmed to be compatible with the J1850-PWM protocol that Ford uses to communicate via the OBD II port on the 7.3 Powerstroke. The 7.3 is the only diesel to use this standard.
The Bluetooth adapters may not be set up for this protocol. I talked with the two different MFGs I used and both stated that they were compatible with the OBDII standard used after 2004 on Powerstrokes.
The MFG write up on Amazon stated both were fully compatible with the J1850-PWM standard ("unlike some of the cheap Chinese adapters" ) . I called both MFGs and they backed away from there write ups.
Buyer beware, If you buy the Blue tooth adapters from Amazon, do your homework and check the feedback from users and also the adapters web page for known compatibility issues.
As to your question about usefulness and sensors. I have a scan guage II that scans more pids then the tourque app will. It will not do all of the performance stuff that torque will do like 1/4 mile time and speed, 0-60 speed and time etc.
I also have an Edge cvs that does the same stuff that torque will do but it doesn't read as many Pids as the scan Guage II. I am disappointed that the Edge reads so little of the information. I thought it would be more like AE lite.
The nice thing about torque is the cost and the ability to carry limited diagnostic capability, along with several other nice features with you anywhere you go and in any car you drive. It is not a replacement for AE but not everyone wants or needs AE.
Hopefully the folks that have it working well will post the name of the OBD II bluetooth adapters that they are using.
not really. vGate is one that does work with later year 7.3 trucks. if you have an older one, limit your expectations. it's not really great for our trucks.
In our quest from this thread:

several different things were tried. the cheapo BT unit works great on a lot of vehicles, but for the 7.3l we found the best code reader options are:
1.) AE
2.) SuperChips 1705 (get a VIN locked one for cheap)
3.) Actron CP9580
The Actron was a total surprise. My buddy was trying to pull the codes, and it would not read anything. We checked the website and there was an update for it. After the update, it starting reading codes and live data without a problem!

I may be mistaken but the last time I checked AE, Superchips and Actron did not make compatible dongles/software with android?
The title of the thread was android scanner application
.I have no doubt the three listed are great for reading codes but the thread started out for Android based compatible dongles and software. To answer the original question asked these two links listed below work for the OBD2 7.3. remember Ford had obd1 too.

Like stated, they were found to work with the later year 7.3l trucks. you will not have those same results on a 99, guaranteed. So you cannot just say "yes, they all work".
Just throwing options out there for people looking for something cheaper. Is it still possible to hijack a 7+ month old thread?
I sure hope it wasn't carbonated, and it didn't end up in your keyboard.

Is it worth the money? I was considering using this setup with an android tablet. I have a few ideas (that i think are good but your opinions may vary) but I have been a little skeptical about dumping the cash to pick it up and I haven't been able to find anyone that has actually purchased it.
That essentially looks the same as the Bluetooth ELM327 adapers, except that they integrated the Wifi hotspot to it instead of BT.
This makes it no better than any of the $10 ones on fleabay. It is all in the software, and quadzilla has been around for a while- with not so great reviews. Years ago they promoted the quadzilla commander, and this looks like a cheaper alternative to that. Do some research.
If your truck is an 02+, it would be in your best interest to get a $10 vGate and try it out. You can use the Torque app free, but for $5 it worth it since you will be able to run all kinds of tests on anything with an OBD2 port (94-03 7.3l is a special creature).
