I am guessing that it wouldn't work. When you buy AE you have to get the "Ford Expanded bundle" for our trucks because the plain OBD2 stuff doesn't cut it.
I should be able to try this soon, I have this app, and a bluetooth OBDII adapter that I've used on other cars. I'll let you know what I find when I give it a go.
Go to their Forum and ask. If I didn't have AE I would.
I did ask and the reply was it should work on any OBD-II compliant vehicle but it's hard to explain to an "outsider" about our trucks if you know what I mean.
I have had that app for about a year now..Works very good. I have used it on all my vehicles including my 7.3 and is worth it. One thing to note..is you want a phone with a fast processor..my old android use to hang up because it couldn't process the info fast enough. A nice feature about the torque app is if it finds a code..it will go to the internet automatically and tell you what the code is and how to fix it.
I'm going to have to look into this...I'm always interested in another way to use my android. RM, have you been able to compare the torque app to AE at all? I don't have AE, but my dad does. I'm thinking this might be a good short term investment for me though...even if all it does is function as a general code reader.
I have no exp with the AE. This app pulls more than codes..you can set it up to monitor anything it pulls info from..ie CAT temp, fuel pressure, intake temp, etc.
In reading through their forum there are a few 6.0 guys there. Seems Ian, the application's writer and forum administrator, uses a $250 BT adapter (OBDlink MX) and says it's the fastest. The Ford guys seem to like the PLX Kiwi for $88 at Amazon.
Mixed results and slow transmission speeds reported on the cheap adapters.
I'm thinking about the Kiwi for $88, don't really want to spend $250 but don't really want to end up with an inferior one either.
I have the app and a cheap adapter. It pulls generic codes but nothing specific to the 7.3. It is still worth the price just to have a scanner with you all the time.
