I have a question. I have a 05 F350 my low pressure fuel pump (the one on the frame rail under the driver) has gone out and been replaced 3 times in about the last 60 to 70000 miles it has failed anywhere between 20 to 25000 miles. Asked my dealer what would cause this as they are the ones that have seen and delt with all maintence issues on my truck since day one. They can't give me a reason for the failures. The truck only has 105000 miles on it. Anyone know what would cause the failures??
Thanks for any help in this matter.
First thing that comes to my mind is that they didn't really fail. But if they did, that would be very unusual and I cannot guess what would cause that. Maybe sand in the tank? For now, I'm sticking with misdiagnosis, and the pumps didn't really fail. At least not all of them.
As Bill and Critter said, if you have another failure I'd drop the tank and have a look see inside. The fuel pumps have been pretty reliable. You might also want to do the blue spring upgrade to the fuel press. reg. just for insurance and to protect your injectors.
