The lever isn't controlled by exhaust gasses, its controlled by oil. If your hearing an exhaust leak from around the EBPV, check the clamp that holds the down pipe on. Mine is loose right now, and its causing that and black soot to go everywhere.
Besides that, check your Y pipe and the boots that go into the intake plenums, they could be loose/leaking and your hearing that.

Agree with that. Also check the union between the turbo and up pipes.
I think he's talking about the shaft that goes through the turbo housing that the flapper is on. It has two bushings, one on either end. Using it as an exhaust brake is working that shaft alot more than normal operation as an EBPV. The bushing is probably worn around the shaft. Take the linkage lose from the flapper and see if you can wiggle the shaft any.

wiggles like mad and am hoping there is a kit or part#'s
7 mos old in lap gotta go!
I didn't see any part #s in the sticky at the top of the forum page, maybe call Ford and see what they come up with. Until then , if you could find another turbo and unbolt the section with the flapper in it and replace yours with that one, it would be a quick fix and give you time to get yours rebuilt without your truck being down.
Not yet guys first concern is getting Jim my cores, then t500, then ebpv. One of my friends has a BD for a dodge that I was going to look at for ideas on rebuilding mine.
Yesterday,I was looking at the shaft and bushings that came out of mine when I deleted it. The butterfly valve (flapper) is attached to the shaft with rivets. You'll have to grind those off to get the shaft out and I guess you could re-attach it with bolts. The bushings that came out of mine still fit decent on the shaft and could maybe be reused. If you don't find any replacement parts, and if you think it would be worth it to put used stuff back in it, I'll send you the stuff out of mine.
